30 Day Challenge: Day 16

Write About Something That You Miss

Something that I miss is having my own apartment. I lived in the dorms all four years of college, but being in Korea was the first time I truly had my own space. Right now, I am living at home with my mom in her retirement community. Don’t get me wrong – it has its perks: a free gym, free use of the (two) pools, walking distance to a really nice lake. However, its not “mine.”

In Korea, it was really nice to have a place to myself. I was the only one with a key. I was able to come and go as I pleased, decorate and arrange things how I liked (as much as I could with what was available to me). I made my own schedule and had my own routine. It also really contributed to my feeling more like an “adult.”

Even though I can’t afford it right now, I look at apartments for rent online all the time. I can’t wait to really have my own place sometime (hopefully sooner rather than later). I think about what paintings I’ll hang, what plates I’ll have in my cabinets, and what little knick knacks I’ll have on display. I get so excited about design and aesthetics in my head. Maybe too excited!

What’s something that you miss?

Also, if anyone would like to do this challenge with me, it can be found here.
